Imo Governorship Race: who occupy Douglas House?
Imo state indigene seems to be more aware of their political right than any state in south east geo-political zone.
This was tested in 2011 general election. While the incumbent state Chief Executive, a PDP governor lost his return bid, the presidential candidate of the same party president Goodluck Jonathan won in the state. An action analyst say reflects the level of political awareness of the electorate.
Again another election year is close by, 2015 the struggle of who occupies Douglas House Imo State has begin, so far over ten persons have been tipped to be instructed in the exalted office of Chief servant or Chief Executive of Imo State.
Let’s take a look at some of those who wants Governor Rochas Anayo Okorocha Job,
Senator Ifeanyichukwu Ararume; He was a two time senator of the federal republic of Nigeria. He was elected into the senate in 1999 and re-elected in 2003. And in 2007 he contested primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, but after winning the primaries, the power that is within the party decided to give the ticket to another, which after a court case was returned to him, an election he failed. In 2011, he changed party contested under the then Action Congress of Nigeria ACN, he lost.
Now after staying out of the party (PDP) for about few years he returned to the party in 2013. The story making around is that he will be contesting for the governorship seat come 2015, to complete the Okigwe Zone’s tenure that was cut short in 2011.

According to political speculations, Agboso sold his APGA ticket to the current governor Orwell Rochas Okorocha in 2011, and then anointed his younger brother Jude Agbaso as deputy. Prince Madumere(MFR) who is from Owerri zone, many say may contest for the Office of the governor come 2015, they based their argument on the recent statement of the governor calling on interested persons who desires to be governor to show interest.
Chief Jude Ejiogu; recently the people of Owerri zone honoured Chief Jude Ejiogu who is the current Chief of Staff to the governor. The grand reception many say may not be unconnected to the agitation by the people of Owerri zone over their right to occupy the Douglas House. There has been subtle maneuvering within Imo government house over who succeeds the incumbent chief executive. Local tabloids are awash with the story of the battle between the deputy governor prince Eze Madumere [MFR]and the chief of staff chief Jude Ejiogu.
